Actor Jim Nabors of ‘Andy Griffith Show’ marries male partner; says he ‘just wanted it legal’

Actor Jim Nabors says marrying his longtime male partner doesn’t change anything about their relationship — he just wanted it to be formally acknowledged.
“I just wanted it legal,” the 82-year-old actor best known as Gomer Pyle in “The Andy Griffith Show” told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Hawaii News Now reports Jim Nabors and his partner, Stan Cadwallader, traveled from their Honolulu home to Seattle to be married Jan. 15, 2013. The couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a Honolulu firefighter.

Nabors married 64-year-old Stan Cadwallader in Seattle on Jan. 15. Nabors says they have been partners for 38 years.
Nabors said they flew from Honolulu just for the short ceremony and were married in a hotel room by a judge friend who drove up from Olympia, Wash.
Nabors said he’s not an activist but feels strongly that gay marriage should be a right for everyone.
“I think every person on this earth has a choice of who they want to spend their life with,” he said.
News of Nabors’ marriage was first reported by Hawaii News Now. Nabors told Hawaii News Now he’s been open about being gay with co-workers and friends but hadn’t acknowledged it to the media before. He said he’s not ashamed of people knowing, he just didn’t tell people because it was “such a personal thing.”
The couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a Honolulu firefighter.
Nabors told the AP that Cadwallader began working for him long ago and took care of his business affairs.
“He’s my best friend,” Nabors said.
Nabors became an instant success when he joined “The Andy Griffith Show” in spring 1963. The character of Gomer Pyle — the unworldly, lovable gas pumper who would exclaim “Gollllll-ly!” — proved so popular that in 1964 CBS starred him in “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.”
In the spinoff, which lasted five seasons, Gomer left his hometown of Mayberry to become a Marine recruit. His innocence confounded his sergeant, the irascible Frank Sutton.
Gay marriage became legal in Washington state last month. Several other states allow it, but Nabors said he picked Washington because he didn’t want to travel too far from his Hawaii home.
“I like the weather,” he said. “Still, I froze my butt off there.”

A filmmaking museum finally in L.A.'s picture

Los Angeles --
Academy Awards overseers have the expertise and memorabilia. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has the know-how to run a world-class exhibition space. So the two outfits have hooked up to create what they hope will be the finest museum in the world devoted to moviemaking.
While there is no definite timeline, organizers said they hope the film museum - housed in a landmark department store building that is now part of the LACMA campus along Wilshire Boulevard - could open in three to five years.
"There are a lot of movie museums all over the world. They're growing in number, but there isn't one in Los Angeles, the film capital of the world," Dawn Hudson, chief executive officer of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said Wednesday. "There isn't one the academy is presenting, and it just seems like a gap, that we should be the ones leading the way for the definitive film museum."
Over the decades, the academy has accumulated a huge collection of goods related to movies, including rare film prints, posters and scripts. That material would form a foundation for the film museum, which would include permanent and rotating exhibitions.
The partnership announced Tuesday night is a shift from the academy's plans to go it alone on a movie museum on land it owns a few miles away in Hollywood, near the theater where the Oscars are handed out each year.
The academy had to abandon that idea after the economy went sour, making it impossible to raise the funds needed to build a whole new facility for the museum.
Though they would not estimate the costs, organizers still will need to raise a huge amount of cash to convert the historic May Co. department store, built in 1939 and acquired by the art museum in 1994. But academy President Tom Sherak said planners will be getting twice as much space - 300,000 square feet at the May building compared with 144,000 square feet that had been planned at the academy's Hollywood property - for less than half the money it would have taken to build from scratch.
They're also getting an architectural landmark - its art moderne style includes a huge golden cylinder above the entrance - that went up the same year such movie classics as "Gone With the Wind" and "The Wizard of Oz" came out. The academy aims to sign a long-term lease for the building.
Times remain hard, but Sherak said the academy is creating an endowment out of its own pockets to help fund the museum.
And there is no shortage of rich, successful actors and filmmakers in Hollywood who will be asked for contributions once fundraising starts.
"The feeling is the time is right for Los Angeles to assert itself culturally, and we feel like people are committed to that cause," said Michael Govan, the art museum's chief executive officer.
Sherak said that for now, the academy will hang on to the property where the museum had been planned in Hollywood, which includes a former discount department store and a film postproduction facility.
Some of the property will be razed, but some buildings will be preserved and used for academy exhibits and other events until the facility at the art museum is ready, he said.
The academy paid top dollar - reportedly $45 million to $50 million - for the Hollywood properties at the height of the real-estate boom, before the bubble burst in 2008. Land prices have tumbled since, but the academy owns the property outright and does not regret buying it, Sherak said.
"We own two blocks of land in part of what might be considered the heart of Hollywood," Sherak said. "That land is going to be an incredible investment for whatever we decide to do."

Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers – Free Picks

ARI - Ian Kennedy, MIL-Yovini Gallardo

It reached a decisive game 5 of the NL showdown between the Diamondbacks and the Brewers, and Diamondbacks are homeless, but remain confident with the staff ace Ian Kennedy takes the mound, despite the fact he gave up four runs clean in Game 1. Kennedy won 21 games this year, but was not sure he would have another chance to pitch this season after falling to the Diamondbacks game. He said he would do "everything possible ... to help in any way possible."

Brewers pitcher Gallardo Yovini properly recognize the importance of tonight's game, commenting that "anything can happen." Gallardo gave only 4 hits in eight innings in Game 1, striking out nine batters while recording an outstanding whip of 0.62. Diamondbacks starter Willie Bloomquist only had a good night against Gallardo, going 2 of 4 in the game and a stolen base. Bloomquist said after four games that "do not panic when we arrived. We understand what we face can not lose .... .... (need) to go there and get the W in some way." If not for a homer for the Brewers third baseman Ryan Roberts, Gallardo would have recorded an outcast. That bodes well for HTE favored Brewers tonight.

Gallardo is good to keep your poise under pressure. He said he is simply "be relaxed as (he) can", using the word "relax" twice in response to a reporter. Surely if he can keep his composure, the Diamondbacks have no problems going against it.

The Gallardo domain apparently does not care about the Diamondbacks. Center fielder Chris Young realizes the obvious, "It's almost a playoff game one ...", he said.

The Diamondbacks are going to have to find a way to have success on offense Raod however. That have hit .343 at home, but only 0212 in Milwaukee. Chris Young stated the obvious: "It was not easy for the whole season ... the playoffs (not) can be easier."

Fortunately for the Diamondbacks, the same trend that has been applied to the hot-hitting Brewers. Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks and gone 3 of 23 in Arizona, while going 10 of 22 at Miller Park. The gardener does not mind "doing it" (steps to help the Brewers win). The fact that this could be the last game of the uniform Fielder of the Brewers is a sobering thought to the fans, however.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke realize the distraction, but said Fielder "is so focused on what we have to do ... stuck in what we do ... we'll see what happens."

It is fitting that Milwaukee domiance house plays a role in this series. Rickie Weeks said that "played (his) butt" of the advantage, realizing the importance of a series against a team as good as they are in the Diamondbacks. Now all you have to leave to take care of business, to provide sufficient Gallardo term support to have this series and move on to face the winner of the Cardinals - Philadelphia series.

iPhone 5 Scam: Fake Apple Announcement Email Leads to PC Virus

While the tech world holds its breath collectively to the announcement of iPhone Tuesday in Cupertino, some unscrupulous hackers are taking advantage of the fact that we do not know exactly what the new phone looks even - with a bogus email supposedly Apple, announcing the "5S iPhone."

It is true that the iPhone 5S model is not very realistic. Those of us who pay attention to reports and rumors know that is not very likely to see through or monochrome. His name is a mashup of two possible phones Apple - iPhone iPhone 5 and 4S. Grammatically-challenged The text below the image should be a tip, too: "The introduction of the iPhone that lets you do more than ever. And they do it incredibly quickly." But for those who are not paying attention, and only vaguely aware that a new iPhone is launching this week as an email - with an "order now" - could make easy bait for malware. And that's what this email is, according to security firm Sophos - a lure for customers to install a nasty little Trojan inadvertently called Mal / Zapchas-A.

Ironically, given Apple's announcement based on the malware only affects Windows computers. The email was first noted by the Dutch journalist Abram Wagenaar. That supports a lot of resemblance to a similar email that made the rounds just before the opening of Steve Jobs at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.

E-mail suggested that we would see a "5S iPhone" with a built-in, slide-out keyboard. The appearance of the email was less than Apple-like than the last effort, although much of the text was similar. Memo to the makers of malware: You have learned Photoshop, now try to brush up on your editing.

Is Jacqueline Laurita leaving 'Real Housewives of New Jersey'?

Bravo dismissed four of the women in "The Real Housewives of New York," but it seems that one of their counterparts in New Jersey might be trying to bail on his own will.

In a series of tweets earlier this week, was "Real Housewives of New Jersey," cast member Jacqueline Laurita some interesting observations that have been taken as a sign that the output of the show. First he said he did not attend the meeting because he was sick, and then continued with: "Someone (not me) was established tonight. I did not know that this was what I signed up for 4. I have 2rise up and forward. "

Things are not always what they seem. Some people live a different life off camera, then they do on. (Ahem).'re Going to see through the bull --- if you look hard enough attention. I think you all are very smart. "

People magazine quoted an unnamed source that says Laurita "has finally quit smoking" and "had to go to his mental health." Bravo told CNN they are not commenting on Laura's tweets or reports.

For its part, makes it sound like Laura is keeping its eyes on the future. She wrote on Wednesday, "I want to focus only on the positive things now please. I threw it away. Now I'm cleaning and reorganizing. Starting fresh and new."

You will be surprised if Laura was "RHONJ"?
